How to Install a Bidet
Bidet toilet seats are designed for DIY (“Do it Yourself”) installation, and any able-bodied person can do it. More than 90% of our customers install their bidet seats themselves. It’s really easy to do, and we’ll walk you through how to install a bidet toilet seat it in this article. Installation time should take about 20 minutes.
What makes our bidet seats so easy to install is that no additional plumbing is required. The bidet taps into the existing cold water supply behind your toilet and since there’s a water heater inside the bidet seat, a separate hot water line is unnecessary. Separate drainage isn't needed either because everything just drains in to the toilet, and flush – it all goes down your existing drain.
Bidet seats do require electricity however, so make sure there's an outlet nearby to power the seat.
There are basically three steps in installing a bidet toilet seat (1) removing your existing toilet seat, (2) mounting your new bidet seat and, (3) connecting to the water supply. We’ll go over each of these steps one by one. All parts needed for installation will be included with your shipment.
Removing your existing toilet seat – If you close your seat and lid, you’ll notice there are two caps there right behind the seat. These caps cover your toilet’s mounting holes, where bolts are inserted to secure the seat to the toilet. Using a flathead screwdriver, flip these caps open to reveal the bolt heads underneath. Then unscrew the bolts with your screwdriver.
Once you have removed the bolts, lift your toilet seat up and it will come right off. Now, you’ll be looking at your seat-less toilet with the two mounting holes exposed just behind the bowl.
Mounting your new bidet seat – To mount the bidet, you first need to install the mounting bracket on to your toilet. After the mounting bracket is installed, the bidet slides right on to the mounting bracket – securely fastening it to the toilet.
To install the mounting bracket, place it over the two mounting holes behind the bowl. Next, insert the rectangular guide rails (these guide rails hold the bolts in place) on the left and right sides of the bracket. Then, drop the bolts thru the guide rails and thru your toilet’s mounting holes. Secure the bolts by fastening nuts underneath.
Once the mounting bracket is secure, slide the bidet on to the bracket until it locks into place. You will hear a “click” when the bidet is securely fastened to the bracket.
Connecting to the water supply – Now that your bidet is secured to the toilet, we just need to connect the water supply. Included with your shipment is a T-Connection, or “splitter”, which splits your water supply two different ways. One way will be to your toilet’s water tank, and the other way will be to the bidet.
If you look behind your toilet, you’ll notice a hose running from your floorboard to the bottom of your water tank. This is the supply line that re-fills your toilet every time you flush. The valve extending from the floorboard is called an “angle-stop.”
First, shut off the water supply by turning the knob in a clockwise motion. Then unscrew the supply hose that connects to the angle-stop. Attach the T-Connection directly on to the angle-stop, and reconnect the supply hose to the top-end of the T-Connection.
This leaves one opening on the side of the T-Connection – which will provide the water supply to your bidet seat. Attach the bidet hose provided to the side opening of the T-Connection, and then attach the other end of this hose to your bidet.
Make sure all connections are tight. Open the water supply by turning the knob in a counter-clockwise motion, and check for leaks. That’s it! You’ve just finished installation and are all set to start enjoying your new bidet!
