Collection: Bio Bidet Discovery DLS vs Bio Bidet BB 2000

Bio Bidet Discovery DLS vs Bio Bidet BB 2000 | High Level Comparison

The Discovery DLS and BB 2000 are two of the best bidet toilet seats on the market.  Both are from Bio Bidet, one of the top bidet seat makers around, so as you might expect there are many things these two units have in common.  They both have tankless water heating for continuous warm water, plus adjustable water pressure, water temperature and nozzle position.  They also both have oscillating wash as well as a single stainless-steel wash nozzle with separate spray ports for feminine and posterior wash.  Both also have an adjustable temperature heated seat and a warm air dryer.  They also come with a wall mountable remote control for easy operation.

Though they are both from Bio Bidet, there are still several differences between these seats.  With the BB 2000 you will find an additional wash option called the turbo, or enema, wash.  This is a high pressure spray not available on the Discovery DLS that is designed to help alleviate constipation.  The BB 2000 also has a slightly larger spray volume which is a measure of the water output during a wash cycle.  The Discovery DLS meanwhile has the dynamic wash feature, which alternates hot and cold water during the wash cycle, something made possible by the updated water heating system.  There is also an Auto function on the DLS that initiates a wash cycle followed immediately by a dry cycle with the push of a single button.

Another notable difference is the automatic opening and closing lid on the Bio Bidet Discovery DLS.  This can make for a hands-free experience since the lid will raise automatically when you approach and will close on its own after you leave the area.  You can also sit on the lid of the Discovery DLS which is unique as most bidet seat lids are not designed to be weight bearing.  In terms of toilet compatibility, we note that the BB 2000 is available in both elongated and round size, where the Discovery DLS is only available in elongated size.  The chart below outlines a list of features to help compare these two Bio Bidet models.

Bio Bidet Discovery DLS

As Bio Bidet’s newest bidet seat, the Discovery DLS is equipped with a few extra features the BB 2000 does not have.  This is their first bidet with the automatic opening and closing lid.  The lid automatically opens as you approach the toilet which helps drive a hands-free toileting experience.  Plus, the lid is weight-bearing so you can sit on the lid, though you do want to disable the automatic opening function before sitting on it.  The updated water heating system allows for the dynamic wash feature that rapidly alternates the water temperature from hot to cold during the wash cycle for a soothing effect.  Bio Bidet has also added ultraviolet (UV) sterilization which uses UV light on the wash nozzle to kill bacteria.

Compelling reasons to choose the Bio Bidet Discovery DLS:

     - You want the auto open/close lid

     - The dynamic wash function appeals to you

     - You like the UV sterilization feature

Bio Bidet BB 2000

The Bio Bidet BB 2000 has been a top-selling bidet for several years now and for good reason.  It is one of the best performing bidet seats available thanks in large part to its larger spray volume of 0.7 liters per minute compared to the Discovery DLS spray volume of 0.6 liters per minute.  The higher water output translates to a stronger overall spray for greater overall cleansing performance.  In addition, you have the turbo enema wash feature that can be very helpful for people dealing various health issues that cause them to have constipation.  The BB 2000 is also available in both elongated size and round size whereas the Discovery DLS only comes in elongated size.

Compelling reasons to choose the Bio Bidet BB 2000:

     - You want the larger spray volume

     - The enema feature is important to you

     - You have a round size toilet (Discovery DLS only comes in elongated)

Design

Here are some differences in design specs.  These are bidetsPLUS' measurements of the physical unit; may differ slightly from stated measurements in the owner's manual, perhaps due to conversion from metric units to imperial.

  Bio Bidet Discovery DLS
Bio Bidet BB 2000
Height - Rear (tallest point)  4.8" 5.6"
Height - Front (shortest point)  1.4" 1.4"
Length - Elongated Size  20.5" 20.9"
Length - Round Size  N/A 19.2"
Width (widest point)  15.3" 15.4"
Weight  8.8 lbs 10.6 lbs
Water Hose Extends from (facing the unit)  Left Left
Electric Cord Extends from (facing the unit)  Right Right
Electric Cord Length  46.0" 42.0"

Key takeways:  The biggest difference here is the Bio Bidet Discovery DLS has a slimmer profile with its maximum height at the back part of the unit being shorter than the Bio Bidet BB 2000.  Besides this, the units are fairly comparable.  Both tend to be good options for larger users or anyone wanting a bit more room on the seat since they are both a bit wider than other bidets.

You can also see that while both of these are available in elongated size, only the BB 2000 is also available in round size.  So if you are installing on a round toilet, you would want to go with the BB 2000.

Wash Features

With these bidets both coming from Bio Bidet it’s no surprise there are several shared features.  Both offer continuous warm water with the tankless water heating system and use a stainless steel wash nozzle.  And as mentioned, you can adjust the water pressure, water temperature and nozzle position for both posterior and feminine wash.  The oscillating wash feature is a useful washing function that moves the nozzle back and forth to cover more area for a better overall cleaning and is found on both models.

A notable difference between these bidet seats is the spray volume, which measure at 0.7 liters per minute on the BB 2000 and 0.6 liters per minute on the Discovery DLS.  The greater water output of the BB 2000 is what gives it the strong wash spray and is a big reason it continues to be one of the most popular bidets on the market.  While the BB 2000 has the advantage in terms of water output, the Discovery DLS does have an upgraded water heating system that responds faster to adjustments, and this is why it is able to offer the dynamic wash feature.  When activated, the water temperature will quickly go back and forth from hot to cold throughout the wash cycle for a palliative effect.

The BB 2000 does not have the dynamic wash feature, but it does have the enema feature.  The enema function uses a separate spray port and issues a high-pressure spray designed to induce bowel movement for people with constipation.  One other difference is the auto function found on the Bio Bidet Discovery DLS.  You can press the auto wash button to activate a 90 second wash cycle that is automatically followed by a four-minute dry cycle.

Other Features

In addition to the wash features, there are also a few non-wash features the BB 2000 and Discovery DLS share, as well as some unique features on each model.  Both have a heated toilet seat with adjustable temperature.  They are also both equipped with a warm air dryer, though we note that the air dryer on the Discovery DLS is stronger; in fact it is one of the strongest air dryers we have seen.  You also get a night light on each unit though they are placed in different areas on the unit.  The BB 2000 night light is located on the outer left side of the unit as you face the toilet, while the Discovery DLS night light illuminates inside the bowl area.

One big difference is the automatic opening and closing lid function available on the Discovery DLS.  The lid can also be opened and closed through the remote control.  Additionally, users can sit on the lid of the Discovery DLS when the auto open feature is turned off.  This is a unique combination of features Bio Bidet has implemented in the newer Discovery DLS unit.  The BB 2000 seat and lid are slow closing, but do not have the auto function or a sittable lid.  The BB 2000, however, does have a built-in air deodorizer that is not included on the Discovery DLS model.  You will also find a detachable nozzle tip on the BB 2000 wash nozzle which allows for easier manual cleaning of the nozzle.
